Women in Art Prize Winner does Art on A Postcard

ArtVox was invited to interview Rachel Tooth at her home studio, where she shared insights into her artistic practice and her contribution to this year’s Art on a Postcard.

The Women in Art Prize has partnered with Art on a Postcard for a special International Women's Day initiative. As one of last year's Women in Art Prize winners, Rachel was invited to participate in this unique collaboration and create an original postcard artwork for their auction raising vital funds for the Hepatitis C Trust.

After a successful career in interior design, Rachel transitioned to her flourishing practice as a painter. Being self-taught, Rachel’s early artistic foundations were nurtured by her mother, a Hornsey College of Art graduate, whose influence remains evident in her confident approach to colour and form.

Rachel creates dynamic compositions that dance between abstraction and representation. Her unique perspective, shaped by years of working with interiors, allows her to find extraordinary beauty in ordinary moments. Her work celebrates the interplay between natural forms and rich, baroque-inspired colours, creating compositions that pulse with energy and movement. Through layers of vibrant pigments and bold gestural marks, she captures the organic rhythms and patterns found in nature, transforming them into striking abstract interpretations.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
