Women in Art Prize 2025

Submissions open March 8th

The 2025 Women in Art Prize awards ceremony will be held on September 17 at the British Library Theatre. Submissions for the prize open on March 8, 2025, which is International Women's Day.

The Women in Art Prize CIC (WIAPCIC) is a vital initiative within a larger project aimed at empowering, supporting, and celebrating women artists across the UK and beyond. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by women in the art world, the organization is dedicated to fostering an inclusive platform where female creatives can thrive, share their work, and gain the recognition they deserve.

WIAPCIC's core mission revolves around supporting, encouraging, and mentoring emerging women artists as they navigate the complexities of establishing a career in the arts. By providing tailored resources, professional development opportunities, and networking platforms, the organization aims to address systemic barriers and amplify the voices of women in the creative community.

One of WIAPCIC's flagship initiatives is the annual Women in Art Prize, a prestigious competition that serves as a cornerstone of their efforts to uplift female talent. Submissions for the prize open each year on the 8th of March, coinciding with International Women's Day—a date that underscores the organization's commitment to advancing gender equity in the arts. The competition is open to all emerging women artists* living and working in the UK, ensuring a broad and diverse representation of creative voices. In addition to celebrating UK-based artists, the prize also includes a dedicated award category for overseas women artists, reflecting the global scope of WIAPCIC's vision and its commitment to fostering an international dialogue in the arts.

The Women in Art Prize is more than just an accolade; it is a platform for visibility and career advancement. Winners and shortlisted artists benefit from extensive media exposure, inclusion in curated exhibitions, and opportunities to engage with established figures in the art world. By shining a spotlight on emerging talent, the Women in Art Prize not only celebrates individual achievement but also contributes to a richer, more equitable art ecosystem.

In line with its broader objectives, WIAPCIC continues to expand its initiatives, collaborating with galleries, educational institutions, and cultural organizations to create long-lasting impact. Whether through mentoring programs, workshops, or exhibitions, WIAPCIC remains steadfast in its mission to champion the contributions of women artists and inspire future generations of creatives.

*Emerging women artists include those who are in the early stages of their professional careers, regardless of age or formal training, and are actively producing work within any artistic discipline.
